Entrepreneurism in the College of Education and Human Development

The College of Education and Human Development engages in and supports entrepreneurial activity in the broad sense of the term, meaning that we initiate and expand leading-edge projects related to individual and community health, education and well-being. Our academic programs promote effective leadership and a collaborative spirit in the pursuit of opportunity and access for all.

The college commits itself to the following core values:

  • Collaboration
  • Ethical Leadership
  • Innovation
  • Research-Based Practice
  • Social Justice

Our programs and other academic offerings reflect these values and include innovative, entrepreneurial practices, including the following:

  • Creating a virtual high school (The Online Academy)
  • Offering teacher licensure programs for international teachers
  • Providing professional development for teachers in International Baccalaureate schools
  • Advancing the fitness of first-responding professionals
  • Offering a Tourism and Events Management degree on Mason’s Ras Al Khaimah campus
  • Creating a principalship center for Northern Virginia
  • Creating risk-reduction support for college students (Healthy Expectations)
  • Creating the county’s first sustained four-year college experience for students with disabilities (Mason LIFE)

Our entrepreneurial spirit pervades the way that we live our core values, opening a multitude of opportunities to work with partners on campus, regionally, state-wide, nationally and internationally.
